Hei, løpevenner! Uke 41 - 2024

In the coming weeks, many of us will have the opportunity to contribute as volunteers for the Norwegian XC Championships we are organizing, or participate in several races like the NM (which also includes a recreational class - sign up). These events, along with races like Nøklevann rundt 5km, can be tough, fun, and a great preparation for our biggest fall event, the Hytteplanmila 10k on October 19th. Info about the bus and party is coming very soon (sorry for the delay).
Mental Health Awareness
This week and next, we'll have our regular group training sessions, but with an added focus on something we care about year-round: mental health. On Thursday, we'll be marking World Mental Health Day 💚, with this year's theme being "We need to talk more together. #give8minutes." The campaign encourages us to set aside eight minutes each day to call someone we care about. Research shows it has a greater impact on our health than we might realize. We hope many of you take up this challenge!
In a group where many seem to "have it all," it's important to remember that appearances can be misleading. Loneliness, anxiety, and other mental health challenges can exist behind even the brightest smiles. Life's ups and downs affect everyone and are a natural part of life, and while many cope well, some periods can feel overwhelming. Our hope is that our community offers strength and support during difficult times. Creating safe environments, daring to take chances, and getting to know one another. Daring to be vulnerable and having open conversations about mental health are crucial to breaking down stigma and moving forward.
Community
We appreciate everyone who participates in our training sessions. We're proud of our gender balance and our focus on "young adults", a typically underrepresented group in Norwegian sports, while still welcoming runners of all ages:-) Our members' diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives are a huge asset. By joining us, you contribute not only to your own well-being but also to the positive atmosphere we create together. Whether you're running or simply present, your participation makes a difference. We understand that joining a new group can be challenging for some, and that life's commitments sometimes prevent participation. You're always welcome, whether you're running or not. Even if you can't run, you can still connect with others or contribute in other ways. And if you need a break, we understand that too.
We look forward to seeing you and creating moments of joy together!
